DISNEY!

22 Dec

In two weeks I’ll be heading to the happiest place on earth to run 42.4 magical miles in 3 days!

Two years ago I wasn’t a runner, and the thought of running for fun was crazy to me. Two years ago I was at Disney during marathon weekend and changed my mind about running. Two years ago I decided to run the 1/2 marathon at Disney in 2012 (funny how goals can change!) Two years ago I would have never thought I could accomplish such a feat, but after training and running my legs off all year in preparation, I know I’m ready to go ever further than originally planned!

I’m glad I have the holidays to serve as a distraction the next couple weeks because I’m already super excited to get to Disney and start running.  I’ve already set aside a whole pile of running things I’ll need to bring. If I didn’t have other travel plans before Disney, I’d probably already have a head start on my packing.  Since I haven’t had any races to recap lately I thought I’d share pictures of my race outfits for the weekend.

5k- Tink themed WISH outfit.

I was originally planning this outfit for the 1/2, but decided that it would be best if the wings only went out for a short run. I tested them on the treadmill and they kept whacking me in the back of the head. I got through 5 miles with them on the treadmill, but definitely don’t want to push my luck doing 13.1 miles with them.

1/2 marathon:

Emporia State themed outfit! Since this trip is partially celebrating my graduation, I thought it would be appropriate to have a college themed outfit. I got nervous about wearing the yellow cotton socks and decided to buy some black compression socks instead. I also ordered a custom back bib to wear!

Marathon:

Goofy- I thought it would be appropriate since I’m running goofy to have a goofy themed outfit. I decided it would be best to stick with normal running clothes for the most part. I can ditch my ‘vest’ if it bothers me since I just cut off the sleeves of an old sweater I was going to toss anyway.

I can’t believe it took me months to decide what to wear, and in the end I didn’t decide on anything too crazy or over the top. I had all these grand ideas in my head, but I’m the least crafty person I know, and they didn’t work out.

Fingers crossed that the weather is warm enough that I don’t have to wear jackets or pants over my outfits!
